uncanny likeness
There may be an uncanny resemblance to someone we know, but this is based on preconceptions. There is an issue of how we engage with a photograph, what we understand from our knowledge and what we expect from the experience. Assumptions we make from the outward appearance of the sitters are brought into question. These images form part of a family resemblance series; millions of years of evolution tell us that there is something wrong with the symmetry of these twins. We may feel uneasy, but we are not quite sure why.
